Dear Everybody:
  This in response to Jan's questions. There were babies that had one stool a
day the entire first week. There were babies that cleared their meconium, then
pooped every after feed for the rest of the first week. There was every
combination in between. There was nothing to predict, except possibly that a
baby who pooped a lot at the beginning of the week (like 4 times on day 2 and
3) would quickly move to pooping every feed.  Remember that the sample is only
20.
   On the farthest end of the bell curve was my favorite baby, Baby B who
cleared his meconium and then did not poop again until day 17, which was 13
days after his last poop on day 4.  He passed lots and lots of gas. He nursed
great, acted fine. I called this mom every day until he did poop again. At
that time, his weight check showed that he had gained 3/4 ounce per day!
Thereafter, he pooped once a week, on Thursdays. He was nursed 2 years.
