I was just at a hospital too see a newborn and mom. All is well after a
slight positioning change. Mom told me that her Pediatrician orders that
no abm go home with her paitients. WHEEEE! If any abm is given to her
patients, it is to be with her orders.

Then the mom said that the nurse had told her that appologetically, and
that it was the doctor's orders, but if she wanted to she could take it
anyway, just to use in an "emergency". Her friend who was there with us
said, " Don't take it. You will set a precedent and will let them know
that breastfeeding mothers don't need it."

Ooooohhh! So that is how it happens. What do you recommend either I or Mom
do?

The mom went on to say that she had 2 cases of abm at home that had been
sent to her unsolicitated. AARRGGGHHH!

I am so thrilled to hear of a young ped. giving such orders. She is
presently breastfeeding a 7 month old. I hadn't known her until today, when
she came to check the baby. I was there when she was answering feeding
questions and the answers were all good.
