Dear Lori,
I can understand your justifiable angst at this ridiculous situation.
However, sometimes, the only way to initiate change in the masses of
"professionals" who are not educated on the risks of their own professional
practices, is to acquaint them of the "what ifs."

If they supplement without permission, and IF that child later develops
IDDM, there could be a lawsuit, involving the hospital, the staff, etc,

Jack, or Marsha Walker, perhaps you know of a precedent for this that would
encourage staff members to lay aside their own ignorant attitudes and work
on a more "research-based" practice. After all, isn't that what hospitals
are always screaming about..show me research? What is the research to
document that supplementation with formula is SAFE? NONE.

The largest experiment in the world. Ack. I'd like to hear from some legally
knowledgeable folks on this one.

Kathleen
