I don't know how much this would impact on recalcitrant hospital staff
but the Dec. 1997 American Academy of Pediatrics statement includes:
"Should hospitalization of the breastfeeding mother or infant be
necessary, every effort should be made to maintain breastfeeding,
preferably didrectly, or by pumping the breasts and feeding expressed
breastmilk, if necessary."

Good luck in modifying the hospital's procedudres.
