Dear Tony,
I had a client who had fibrocystic breasts and developed knew lumps during her
preg. I would recommend the surgeon do any biopsy (bx) now and not wait till
postpartum. If the surg is looking to do needle bx this is a better time.
Most likely the knew lump is also fibrocystic but better to rest assure that
is what it is.
The only problem my client had was one lump was under the areola and the baby
was not happy nuring that side and mom had more discomfort with that lump.
She was also uncomfortable when she had primary engorgement, the lumps were
pushed to the skin surface, but was better after the edema was down.
Warmly,
Ann Perry RN IBCLC
