Thanks to all for the information and web sites. After an internet search,
I felt prepared to write a response to this person. When I got the next
digest from that listserv, I was pleasantly surprised to see two other moms
had also responded. One of them is currently a minister in the church, and
wrote to say she had nursed her two daughters for over a year, and was
saddened when they both weaned themselves shortly after that. Below is
part of her response. There are a lot of good moms out there in all walks
of life.

>And now, one final zinger. Why is it that it is "nursing" that always
>takes these hits? Do the Ezzos teach that infants must poop on schedule?
>If not, why not? Why "give in" to a baby whenever he starts crying that
>his pants are full? Why don't they see that as "manipulation" just as much
>as a cry for the breast? Somehow, it is easier to label a child sitting in
>his own feces as "child abuse" than a child crying to nurse, and being
>deprived of it.
