        Thanks for the responses to my question about spelling. I've just
read Patricia's explanation (somehow I missed it first time round), which
puts it very clearly. It seems I've really set things off, with people
proposing to write to dictionaries etc!
        I've just had a look in my Chambers dictionary (1994 ed.) This is an
important dictionary in the UK. I thought you'd like to see their
definition: "Breast-feed: to give milk to (a baby) from the breasts rather
than from a bottle."
