Hi, Lactnetters,
I know this is not a breastfeeding issue, but I jumped when I saw this.
The 100% mayo is a recommended idea, truly making the hair shiny and nits
easier to remove, but the petrolatum (vasoline) is discouraged. There is
an internet resource that has info about this. It seems the petrolatum
is extremely hard to get out of the hair. One family resorted to
gasoline to remove it because it was so stubborn (shampoo will not remove
petrolatum from an entire head), and a fire ignited because of the
proximity to a heat source (the water heater). The child died from the
injuries. For more info please see: school nurse network
