I was heartened to read your post regarding how you incorporate
lactation information into the OB curriculum. Wow! I guess Georgia
to North Dakota would be kind of a long commute, eh?

I do realize that nursing education at the BSN level is meant to
prepare us with only the basics, but infant feeding choice
affects every single person! So am I wrong to think that we should at
least get the bare minimum lecture on why we need to encourage moms
to bf and on how to advocate for positive bf messages in the
community? Even this could be done in 45 minutes, with good take-
home handouts.

We spent more time on diorders and conditions that are incredibly
rare, while ignoring the larger picture that every baby needs to eat,
and we need to make a case to students and to moms about why
breastmilk is best, because most people don't get it. That's all.

It's been great hearing the input from the experts.
