Not heavily lactation-related. Feel free to skip.

Well! I am impressed! That grocery store reception I was invited to
(although with thousands of others!) was really something.

The best (and most appropriate) recommendation re: "appropriate attire" was
offered by Pam Wiggins, who suggested a breastfeeding slogan-adorned shirt
and gnoshing in the formula aisle.

I put on my favorite shirt--from MILC [hi, all, in CHicago!] which says
"Breastfeeding, the power of love". I sort of followed through with the
second suggestion, but not for very long. Why?

Well, unlike the grocery stores in greater Chicagoland which often had more
than 25 feet of linear shelving holding gobs and gobs of formulas, this
store had less than 6 ft of shelving for the same sort of goop. As I have
said before, this is MAJOR breastfeeding country and it was clear to me
that the store reflected that because, although there were several brands
shown, not very many cans of each. Clearly, they do not need to have much
space for what so many people do not use. (In fact, the space for the
Shitake mushrooms was more than twice as big as that for the formula tins!)
And don't we all agree that that is as it should be?!

Anyway, I wandered around the store admiring and noting things, and enjoyed
fresh Chinese veggies dishes, pasta fare, several different dabs of cakes,
wine (!), chips and dip, fresh salmon (yummy, yummy), fresh pieces of
cheese, fruit, and assorted other munchables.

One of the neatest things though was someone I hadn't seen for awhile. She
stopped me between munch tables and said, "I think we must have followed
you through town to the parking lot. Is yours the Saturn with the
breastfeeding slogans on the back?" I laughed and nodded and she said, "I
figured that HAD to be YOU!" (she is not an LC, just knows of my (ahem)
interests... :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions about what to wear to this big do. There
you have it, and special thanks to Pam for her suggestions. PS No ONE was
standing in the aisles where things were unless there was a munch station
nearby and most of them were scattered around the outer perimeter of the
store.

Wanna guess how many people will be there at 8AM to win the prizes for the
first 100 shoppers?! (I don't think I will be in that group....)

But they did stock my favorite Stash brand Licorice Spice tea (oh joy!)
