I spoke the the neonatogolist today, Dr. Ron Cohen I asked him what the
problem REALLLY was here since we agreed milk is fine, and he said that
he cannot let baby nurse directly from mother.  Since I am not the LC per
se at the hospital, but rather an RD and the only one who professess to
be a "Lactation Specialist" they are counting on me to go increase the
mother's milk supply and help her with pumping.  I will see her in person
tomorrow, will hopefully be able to talk to Dr. Cohen for more than five
minutes. I will work hard to help this poor mother who really just wants
to breastfeed even under these difficult circumstances, (recently became
quadriplegic in a car accident while pregnant). I think that her milk was
cultured and they were having her use hypochlorite solution to clean the
bottles and pump parts per Terry Asquith's, who runs the Milk Bank,
suggestion.  I don't think there is a need to pasteurize the milk.  The
problem seems to be that mom is a chronic carrier of MRSA and if
anything touches her it will be infected.  I will ask the Dr. how they
expect the infant to be protected if he isn't breastfeeding.  I will
definitely keep you all posted on this. Thank you very much for your
