Hi All,
(Again!) Goodness, I am being prolific today!
OK, Pertussis. I just found out that about 5 mo ago, when I thought my kids
had bronchitis (which didn't seem like any brnchitis I had had) that they
may have in fact had pertussis. A friend brought her ill son to my home
(telling me he only had allergies...) and within a few days I had a very ill
2.5 yr old and 2 mo old. They were ill for a LONG time. Several weeks. A
friend who knows a lot about pertussis described to me how the disease works
and what its symptoms are and I now believe that both boys did have that
rather than bronchitis.
I talked to a health nurse a few weeks ago, and she told me, off the record,
that the majority of "bronchitis" cases they see at the hosp she works at
are really pertussis, and the Drs don't tell the parents that for fear that
the parents will tell everyone their kids vaccines didn't work and then
people will stop getting vaccinated for it. Frightening, huh? I wish I
could get her to go public about it. Anyway, Ben (my now 3 yr old) was
vaccinated for pertussis, PJ hadn't been, and Ben was the sicker of the two.
Could be BC he was BF only and Ben only BF once a day at the time, but I
don't know.
Scary stuff, if you ask me.
