This mom may be sensitive to the antifungals. I had a mom that presented in
a similar way -- took her off the antifungals; she used hydrocortisone on her
nipples & areolas for about 3 days 3x/day, and healed nicely. To test, I had
her put some of the antifungal cream on the inner aspect of her elbow -- the
ensuing itching and redness about drove her crazy. She had been treated over
the phone for a month for "yeast" by LCs who had never seen her. By the time
she got to me, the skin of the areolas was sloughing off, and they were
weeping yellowish fluid. Ugh!
