Hello, all.

I got a call at work to day from a mom who is nursing an 8 month old and
is having terrible sinus problems. Her doctor gave her Vancenase and
Azelastine to try to relieve the problem. He told her these were okay
with breastfeeding, but she is questioning the Azelastine.

Mom says when she has given her daughter antihistamine/decongestants
like Triaminic the baby reacts after about a week with sleeplessness and
irritability. Now, a week into the mom's medications the same kind of
behaviors. She wonders if it's the Azelastine. I can't find this drug
in my books, I gather it's brand new, and that's the only name on her
prescription. Dr. Hale, or anyone, do you have any information on this
drug?

Many thanks,

Sue
