>I am currently taking care of a set of triplets who were exclusively
breastfed for the first 5 months of life. The mother was very fortunate in
that she had both sets of grandparents come from Poland to help her. She
was not able to put them to the breast immediately b/c she had a
complication of having her bowel cut during her C-section--unfortunately a
loop of bowel was overlying her uterus when they made the incision. Then
she had a wound dehiscense about 2 weeks later, and she went back to work as
a pulmonary fellow at 8 weeks. Basically she is the most determined woman I
have ever met! She tells me she has pumped 24 ounces at one sitting. She
attributes her success to the incredible support system she has at home.
>Of course, now I'm totally spoiled b/c when a mom of one baby starts
telling me all the reasons why she can't breastfeed I always think of this
mother!
