I've been hearing recently that goldenseal, which is often packaged
together with echinacea, is contraindicated for pregnancy and lactation.
I've gone through several resources on herbs that I own, and while they
all pretty much agree on the contraindication for pregnancy, none of them
mentions lactation one way or the other. The explanation for why this
herb is not good during pregnancy relates to its effects on stimulating
contractions, and this I can understand. But why can't it be used during
pregnancy? I would love it if someone knowlegeable would enlighten me--
I'm out of resources.
