A mom with a 21 mo. old called me for weaning information because she is
to take the antianxiety drug BuSpar. Even the pediatrician who is so
supportive of breastfeeding said to wean if she takes the med. What
little I could find about the drug said not enough was known about it to
say that it was compatible with nursing. The toddler nurses a lot. The
mother says he gets very upset if he can't nurse. I gave information on
weaning and suggested she might want a second opinion about taking this
med. She has taken Paxil through the pregnancy and nursing.

Is there any new information about BuSpar and its compatibility with
nursing?

Thank you.
