The oldest infant care books I have are two my mother used in the 40s and
50s (great for a laugh, these days), and do use the word 'nursing' in
places (the older one is basically by a British/New Zealander - Sir F.
Truby King), but the most common term for breastfeeding seems to be
'natural feeding' as opposed to 'artificial feeding'. I guess before
bottles existed in a big way, it was just referred to as 'feeding'.
