Dear Lactnet Netters,

I know this is not specific to breastfeeding issues, but this affects us
all as
Internet users. Please read and act on the following information. For
many people who already must pay long distance charges to connect with
thier carrier, would now also have to pay per-minute charges for
internet connection. Dr's in outlying communities would not have
inexpensive access to diagnostic information, or help with
unusual/complex patients.
This would also affect our daily lives... think about it...if Internet
connections incur a surcharge... might they not start charging Banks for
their use of phone lines for managing funds (many banks have on-line
banking now),and you'd better belive that they are not going to eat that
charge!!! It's going to be passed right on to us!

Thank you,

Subject: FCC Plans to Charge Per Minute Fees for Internet

Hello All:

I am writing you this to inform you of a very important matter currently under
review by the FCC. Your local telephone company has filed a proposal with the
FCC to impose per minute charges for your internet service. They contend that
your usage has or will hinder the operation of the telephone network.

It is my belief that internet usage will diminish if users were required to
pay additional per minute charges. The FCC has created an email box for
your comments, responses must be received by February 13, 1997. Send your
comments to [log in to unmask] and tell them what you think.

Every phone company is in on this one, and they are trying to sneak it in
just under the wire for litigation. Let everyone you know here this one.
Get the e-mail address to everyone you can think of. [log in to unmask]

Please forward this email to all your friends on the internet so all our
voices may be heard!
