In my experience recurrent plugged ducts with a toddler are often related
to erratic nursing that causes fluctuations in supply. One thing that I
would suggest is expressing milk on a day that the baby is nursing less
often. She should express a little bit whenever she feels full.
You did not mention if she has recently returned to work or
changed her working (and nursing) patterns. Either of these things
could also cause fluctuations in milk sup[ply, engorgement and plugged ducts.
One last thing that needs to be explored is bra use. Is she
wearing a bra all night? Is she wearing a bra that doesn't allow proper
drainage or has she switched from a nursing bra to a regular bra? Mothers
of toddlers who are fairly small breasted often do this, and the bra
might press on part of the breast,
particularly when pulled out of the way for nursing.
Hope this helps.
