I agree that ultrasound and aspiration are the correct way to go for
palpable lumps. A normal mammogram doesn't exclude cancer anyway--any
persistent lump needs to be explained. For women who need or want
mammograms while nursing, I advise them about the higher rate of false
negativity in lactating women (breast tissue is too dense to see fine
details), and suggest that they nurse and/or express to get the breasts as
empty as possible before the test.
BTW, I will be escaping the rainy Pacific Northwest for a few days, so
