I need suggestions for a 4 day old baby who has nursed well since birth, but was
very mucousy the first day and spit up a lot, ( not uncommon). After going home
as the milk came in, he began spitting up after nursing, mom says about a half
cup of breast milk , as mom describes in a projectile way. He began showing
signs of dehydration yesterday, no wetting, no bms, dry mouth, and the health
nurse told her to give soy formula. So she did, and he keeps it down fine, but
then every time she breastfeeds, he spits up again. What am I missing here?
She is pumping her breasts and even if she gives the milk in a bottle, he spits
it up again.
She says that her sisters did the same thing on breast milk.
