SUBJECT: brfdg and wt gain

PRIORITY:
very interested, as a dietitian, in the story re wt gain from Jan 3. Had not
previously heard of the hormone stuff, although it makes sense--we typically
warn new preg women if early enough that hormones of early preg may make them
eat more than they need, so need to be aware of that when they select foods to
eat/drink. Sometimes awareness helps, sometimes more specific advice is
needed.
My experience with brfdg friends & wt gain seems to bear this out
too--sometimes though its what mom drinks that overcomes the calories out--
many women drink too much juice, not realizing its often 80 - 120 cals for 8
oz. I continue to be skeptical about "needing 500 extra calories" to
breastfeed--ive yet to see that play itself out.And in the example given in
the posting, the woman had implants and was supplementing, so her calories out
would be much less anyway. The psycological inputs sound very significant
here i too would be hard pressed to say "give up Brfg"--but also, you have to
Be There to really evaluate well and consistently. Wonder what her preg gain
was like, wonder what her boyfriend is doing to support/not support her wt
gain...wonder what her nonpreg wt history was...
wonder wonder--anyway
