Anna (UK) wondered about "mixing" gripe water with mother's milk - via the
mother's digestive tract. I knew a woman who swore that this worked for
her. She took the baby's recommended dose, or sometimes double that, in the
late afternoon, and she said her baby's colic symptoms eased. If she forgot
to take the gripe water, she said that colic was bad that night. (Maybe the
baby was suffering from withdrawal!!)
I would prefer the mother to take the gripe water herself than give it to
the baby...I just have a feeling that these essential oils are very potent
and a minute amount goes a long way. But I never heard of any baby being
badly affected by gripe water. Can any one who uses/prescribes these oils
comment? I don't have any of the local gripe waters, but seem to recall
that the common ingredient is dill oil.
