Re : Ulcers and anticholinergic drugs

As to using anticholinergics in therapy of ulcer patients, there is no
conclusive evidence that the use of anticholinergics aid in the healing of
stomach ulcers( Facts and Comparisons, 1997, p. 1917). This is almost
universally accepted fact.

Current therapy for ulcers(diagnostically proven) includes triple antibiotic
therapy and an H2 blocker (Zantac, Pepcid, etc) for several weeks to a month.

Although unlikely, there may be some anticholinergic side effects associated
with anticholinergic drugs, atropine, clidinium(Quarzan), etc, and would
include dry mouth, xeropthalmia, anuria.
