I believe the Hebrew word would translate as suckling "ha-nakah", as
Nofia said, breast doesn't enter into it. Coincidentally, one of our WIC
breastfeeding peer counselors (who doesn't speak Hebrew) asks her baby if
she wants "sucklings"! A nursing baby in Hebrew is a suckling,"yo-nek",
although biblically there is the term "yonek sha-daim" which means the
one who suckles the breasts (this is the term for a suckling babe).I'm
not sure how you would say Lactation consultant though, I guess
"suckling advisor", yes, Nofia??
