Lactnetters...I got the following message from my husband and wondered if
anyone could offer some insight on fat cells. I had a client whose baby at
7 months weighed 27 3/4 pounds and was 24 inches long (well over the 95% for
wt for ht). The baby was totally breastfed for well past a year. The child
is now 2 years old and weighs 28# and is 34" long (plots at the 75% wt for
ht.). The doctor wanted mom to put baby on diet but she went with her heart
and felt like it would all work out in the end. I might also mention that
thyroid tests etc were done and baby was totally healthy. So, all those
people getting paranoid about the really fat totally breastfed baby less
than a year, relax! Georgia Harris, IBCLC
