Dear Lactnetters:

Thanks to all who responded to my post on the baby sucking her lower lip.
The ideas were helpful and it will be great to know what to try if this
should come up again. I apologize for the delay...the sudden, unexpected
death of a very close and very dear friend made it necessary to travel out
of town this week to attend the funeral.

I contacted the mom the next day and that was no longer her concern. She
was more concerned that the baby was not "getting enough". Seems that
grandparents had been to visit over the weekend and had instilled doubt in
mom's ability to produce enough. After a long talk and lots of reassurance,
mom decided that baby had been getting enough all along as evidenced by her
weight gain. I spoke with her again, yesterday. They are doing MUCH
better. Had been to the doctor the previous day and baby had gained 13 ozs.
in 6 days. Isn't it amazing what can happen when we "let the baby take
control of the feeding". (Thank you, Michael Woolridge!)

Just want to add I think this is a great resource for us and am impressed by
how quickly I received responses. It has proven to be very helpful. Thanks
again!
