Alicia: Thanks so much for the references. I just made a trip over
to the library to check some of them. Interestingly, they do not
seem to deal with the concept that, although the AMOUNT of estrogens
delivered by some of these pills is small, the molecular STRUCTURE of
them is slightly different from what would be naturally produced in
the human. It is this difference in structure that I am concerned
about. If these were protein hormones I wouldn't raise this concern,
but they are steroids and obviously biologically active. I just
wonder what rolls they are playing in the baby who is just developing
his/her own reproductive system. I'm afraid that the answer to this
isn't known, as these pills have not been used long enough to really
look at possible effects on the "second" generation. Does anyone
have anymore info concerning this? Again, thanks for the references.
