One way I deal with burnout (which usually comes in cycles) is Lactnet -
reading about other people's bad days or venting about mine helps immensly.
It also helps to get a fresh view of the bf crusade to recharge my
batteries. sometimes in the midst of discussion I get an 'aha' that
simplifies my work. And then when I really feel burnt (when I can't bring
myself to make that phone consult) I arrange to take a few days off of my bf
work. Frustrated moms who are in pain can sense when your attention is
wandering and then everyone loses, just ask our fellow lactnetters about how
personal issues can rear their ugly heads during advice/discussions.

I absolutely love my line of work and can't see doing anything else, that is
why it is crucial that I love me first :)
