for the mom who is having some problems keeping up with the demands of her 3
mo old. Many moms who work full time at the hospital where I work have been
trying this and finding it works well...

They restrict the first feeding of the baby to one breast only and pump off
the other one. That way, they are really "empty" (or whatever word we want
to use) and they have the psychologic boost of knowing that they have left
one bottle for the baby already. These moms do double pump, but many have
figured out how to hold the double pump with only one arm. It is possible to
position the pump flange on one breast and press it in place with the
forearm. The free hand on that arm is able to support the flange on the
other breast. That still leaves 1 hand free to eat, talk on the phone or
whatever. If the mother is allowed to leave on her lunch hour, could she
have visitors in her office (or meet the baby in the parking lot in her car)?
That way she would save the travel time.

Hope this helps.
