Cathy -
I do remember hearing about a hospital that was doing an experiment with
feeding breast milk to patients with advanced cancer. I understand it was
successful - the patients had less nausea, better weight, etc.
I think there was also a saint in ancient times who was inprisoned for his
faith and his sentance included that he should have no food so that he would
starve to death. His adult daughter visited him every day and bf him (what
would Freud say about this?). He survived, I think for 2 or 3 years, and the
courts released him saying it was a miracle. There's a painting of her
nursing the elderly father.
Good luck and best wishes to your friend and her daughter!.
Cynthia
