Although the US came out in favor of the WHO Code it unfortunately has no
force behind it.  We (Action for Corporate Accountability) are now working to
try and get some actual measures passed here to enforce provisions of the
Code.

Actually the companies violate the WHO Code in the US (and other
"industrialized" countries) just as much if not more so than in "developing"
countries.  The only provision of the Code that had been followed in the US
for several years, advertising directly to mothers, is now widely violated by
all companies and there has never been an effort to apply the other
provisions of the Code to the US market.

Now if we could just get a few legislators or administrators to understand.
