Martha, your library tales remind me of my high school biology teaching days.
When it came time to discuss the reproductive system, I looked for a film that
might be interesting from a catalog of state-owned films we could borrow to show
our classes. There was one listed that I decided to get. I had to get special
permission from my department head, principal, and who knows who else. The film
description had dire warnings about the explicit content of the film. When I got
it (and previewed it to make sure I wasn't going to be showing a XXX rated film,
there was a section showing a MOUSE giving birth. She danced around a little (I
suppose the mouse equivalent of walking during labor!) sat down and popped out a
tiny baby. For all that the movie showed, the baby mouse could have come from
her armpit.

PS. Then there was the kid who wrote an essay stating that "the [birth control]
pill is very popular among pregnant women...."
