Denise - I get very frustrated and feel that more-awake babies
would be a blessing, since many problems I see are good ole
nipple confusion, often initiated back in-hospital when baby is
bottle fed because too dopey from mom's demerol during labor. My
local hospital seems pretty committed to routine IVs on every
laboring woman and demerol started earlier (2 cc dilation) (often
leading to uterine inertia) and stopped later (leading to resp.
distress). BUT..... What problems do you see with epidurals? It
is my nature to be anti-interventionistic, so would tend to be
suspicious of epidural from sheer cussedness, but it would be
helpful to know WHAT to be on the watch for, since epidural rate
low here, plus bf rate low, people do not know what I do or that
I exist, so I haven't seen much of bf problems post-epidural.
Thanks for sharing. Judy Knopf
