Dear Lactnet Friends:

I hear from colleagues who lament about women unable to express any milk in
the first day or 2 after giving birth.

Remember that breasts are not faucets; they are girls and we have to make
nice to them before the oxytocin can flow.

Put baby s2s for 15 minutes, until mama sighs or yawns, then see about
squeezing out some milk. Or a nice massage for 10-15 minutes, or a warm
compress if baby is not available.

Milk flow is directly related to emotional state.
