To be more clear, none of these mothers that I have seen posting stated
they planned to formula feed so they could smoke pot for mental health
reasons. They all seemed to be wanting to smoke to get high. No
indication otherwise. Not a single mention of having a prescription or
consulting with a doctor. I was speculating they had untreated conditions
that they were self-treating, but this is only speculation. And I'm not
sure that choosing formula is the right call in this case, although I would
think that sleeping with your baby would be risky. I'm also not sure that
breastfeeding if you're going to use cannabis is the right call either. (I
don't have a problem with cannabis use in general. I just have questions
regarding THC and CBD during breastfeeding.)

What I'm guessing is that maybe these mothers have underlying untreated
mental health issues. We know that children of mothers who are depressed
have greater risk for various problems. Do we know for a fact that THC in
their mothers' milk makes things worse? I don't think we have a definitive
answer on that. Children of alcoholics are at greater risk of various
problems, even if they never touch alcohol themselves.

I apologize if that was unclear.
