Good evening,
The problem is that the proliferation of breast pumps occurred after the
Code was passed in the World Health Assembly, which explains why this
wasn't addressed. However, it is fair to say that pumps are closely linked
to bottle feeding.

Videos showing mothers pumping tend to "normalise" it and make it seem
"essential". A good video should show breastfeeding (at breast), and when a
mother is separated from her baby, for whatever reason, hand-expression
should be shown as workable. Only then need a pump be shown, with the
emphasis that it is just one option, not the only or "essential" option.
Importantly, the video should not show just a single brand or type, i.e
not marketing a particular product. Too often depiction of a pump
degenerates into de factor marketing of a particular model or brand. You
would not want your video choices to do this!

Besides checking the International Code, do be sure to look at the periodic
updates contained in World Health Assembly documents.
