Hi, I am after some advice / input into the following.
Baby boy weighing 7lb 6oz at birth. Exclusively breast fed. Thriving and apart from being unsettled during daylight hours a happy healthy boy who is now 3 months old - last weigh 12lb 7oz 2 weeks ago. 6 days ago baby had onset of greenish slimy stool which has progressed to very watery green consistency with little residue and increased frequency - though he averaged 3 or more a day prior to this. He is well hydrated but I noticed his tummy is looking a little flatter then what it was (unfortunately I do not have scales - rely on local Plunket service).He continues to feed as before and is active and alert
So I'm thinking 3 possible causes - 1, gastroenteritis (unlikely because he is well and afebrile). 2.lactose overload (again I'm thinking unlikely because until now his stool was the usual yellow seeded and feeding has been, and remains, great - latch wise and obviously thriving)
3. CMI or some other food  in Mums diet which is a well rounded healthy one and hasn't changed. With this in mind I have advised her to exclude dairy and soy from her diet at this stage.
So my question is when can a food intolerance manifest in exclusively breast fed infants? I thought it would have been earlier then 2 1/2 months. Same goes with lactose overload. I suggested trialling a block feeding routine but baby wouldn't have a bar of that.
