Thanks to those of you who sent your thoughts on this. By the time I arrived she was back on the breast, after 48 hours of refusal. My concerns had been on the same lines as Margaret, that this may be the sign of something more serious, but it seems likely that it was a positioning issue, with the baby being placed a little too high wth a pillow to support, and then growing, as babies do! And the subesquent stress impacting on her mum to perpetuate the situation. Once support was offered both through telephone helplines, and then knowing someone would be visiting, along with the skin to skin and different positions, the pressure was off and things got back on track.

As always, it is so lovely to see how these chains of support both locally and around the world just make so much difference.
