Saw a new dyad yesterday for consultation.
Because of baby's multiple issues mom has to pump and feed him by bottle.
There is a lot of breast and nipple pain associtaed with pumping and mom
is concern re: reduced milk supply.

First child was started on artficial milks very early because of the
similar issues and did start on the food allergies rollercoaster almoust
immediately.
With this kid mom wants to avoid the artificial milks and is literally
fighting for every drop of the breast milk.

The problem is that mom has mild CP and can not efficiently use breast
massage/hand expression.
This time she did not bring her pump, so I will assess that next week at
the follow-up visit.

I did show her the breast massage and hand expression and she was happy
to see how well it had worked.
She will use Freemie to ease the work of some of the pumping sessions
(yes, I did warn her that freemie would not mount as much suction as the
conventonal set-up's)
Her husband will come in next time to be instructed on breast massage
and hand expression.

What assitive devices/techniques I can recommend to her?
Can she get in touch with other mothers in her situation? I'd bet she is
not the only CP patient who is breastfeeding.
How else I can help her in her situation?

Thank you on advance,
Alla
