Hi Anita ~

Wondering who said a nursing degree is needed to become an IBCLC, since
Pathway 1 is for "Recognised Health Professionals and Recognised Mother
Support Counsellors" per IBLCE's *Candidate Information Guide* at
http://iblce.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/candidate-information-guide.pdf.
Surely
ABA Breastfeeding Counsellor fits that. There are courses that are required
- several available online - but not a nursing degree. Health e-Learning -
The International Institute of Human Lactation Inc., which is a non-USA-based
company offering many of the prereq courses to help candidates prepare to
sit the exam - http://www.health-e-learning.com/courses. (I have no
connection to the company or courses! Hope others will share info about
other such opportunities.) If you haven't done so already, you may want to
contact the IBLCE office for Asia Pacific/Africa, which is located in
Queensland, Australia.

Good luck with your decision making!
