Co-op Donor Milk is 100% human milk, with nothing added. Medolac prepared Co-op Donor Milk has been used in dozens of hospitals successfully with preterm infants and should be used like any other human donor milk in clinical settings. Assertions that Co-op donor milk is untested are absolutely false. In fact our milk is arguably tested more extensively than other milk banks as it is screened and tested before it is pooled, again after it has been pooled and yet again after it has been packaged. Any milk that is does not pass safety or freshness standards is rejected immediately (the latter step is not required of HMBANA milk banks). Unlike many donor milk providers, we provide laboratory confirmed nutritional information for our donor milk specific to each lot. Caregivers can rely on the indicated protein, fat, mineral and carbohydrate nutritional information to accurately reflect the contents in the pouch. As to the sterilization process, we utilize an FDA approved heat processing method that has been in use for decades. Our milk is packaged and heat processed in custom manufactured pouches that have also been used for decades to provide extended shelf life for foods for infants and with foods for special medical purposes.

We are concerned that a few individuals are purposely and maliciously spreading misinformation about our product, often due to these individuals also having a conflict of interest that skews their opinion. Medolac procures its donor milk from the Mothers Milk Cooperative, the largest milk bank in the US, operating in 45 states, owned and controlled by its members. Each member been carefully selected, including blood screening performed by the American Red Cross National Testing Laboratories. Every member has the assurance of being fairly compensated for her milk. Our commercially sterile donor milk is only sourced from human donor milk free from bacterial contamination, and offers unparalleled safety as our processing method eliminates the presence of heat resistant spores, not eliminated by Holder pasteurization alone, like b.cereus. As we offer the only commercially sterile donor milk, we are confident that our donor milk is the safest, highest quality donor milk available and ideal for use in clinical settings.

Please do not hesitate to go to www.medolac.com for more information or contact your local Medolac representative should you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Doug Hawkins
