Hello fellow Lactnetters, I have permission to post this mysterious situation. This mom (2 day postpartum) has severe facial edema and itching. When I inquired if she was having an allergic reaction to something she said she gets this when she first gets pregnant and again during early postpartum. This is her 2nd baby and it has happened the same way. With the first child she was given an antihistamine cream with cortisone and she found out she was allergic to the cortisone and got worse. The doctors do not know the reason for this. She has asked many people, but cannot find an answer. She is wondering if there is a certain hormonal swing that is common at the beginning and end of pregnancy that she might be allergic to. Have any of you heard of this before or have any thoughts?
Thank you in advance,
