I have a question about hooka smoking and breastfeeding.
Infant is 72 hours old. Mom is cesarean delivery, Gravida 1, has been combination feeding. Her milk is increasing today and mom states she wants to do more breastfeeding, but isn't yet because she's concerned about safety of breastfeeding with use of a Hooka pipe.
Mom states, "It has no tobacco or nicotine only flavors of fruits." She reduced use in pregnancy to 'only little' and wants to return to normal use, several times a day, when home from the hospital.
Information I can find from the Mayo Clinic about hooka smoking (not related to breastfeeding) lists concerns about it's safety in pregnancy r/t levels of toxic compounds being higher than with cigarette smoking.
Can anyone give me professional recommendations about a breastfeeding mother?
Thanks,
Rachel
