Dear Lactnet Friends:

When women drink water, they make urine. We increase our milk supply by
taking out milk; ideally it's the baby to do this, but it could be a hand
or a pump.

Many women I know, including myself, don't drink enough water for our own
health. The way to know that you are drinking enough water is that your pee
looks a lot like water...or a light light shade of what ever medicine or
food or drink you are ingesting. The one exception is the first pee of the
morning that will be darker.

As for breastfeeding therapists of all colors, AMEN!!!  Not always a
popular topic at those lily white meetings......when I brought it up at a
big meeting, I was met with a resounding silence, and a shift of topic.
Diversity is an element of health, whether it be foods on our plate or
different people on our committees.

Our local ILCA-affiliate has a scholarship for minority candidates that
will pay for the exam, once the candidate has met the requirements. We did
this to ensure that our money would be used for its specific purpose. We
didn't like the idea of someone using scholarship money to pay for
education and then not completing the requirements due to life changes or
change of heart.

In the USA, white babies are now the minority of new births.
