Dear all:

As for the distorted complaints in the White Paper document, I see this as an OPPORTUNITY for local LCA chapters to fill in the gaps. There are many online training programs now. After tax time, I personally am going to start NYLCA on the process of sorting through all the new requirements and find local colleges and online courses that fulfill the prerequisites. At the same time, we have already planned more local workshops that provide the interaction and physical skills that you can't learn from a webinar. We have already provided many conferences with local practitioners from a variety of professions.

Standardized lectures can only take you so far. What happens at the local level in creating a climate of excellence to better serve mothers and babies is something I firmly believe in.

Best regards, Susan Burger
