HI Kim- I am not familiar with last summers research and I'd love a link or reference to check out. We do mnot usually culture milk. Recently had a re-admit with fever in isolation and GI symptoms. This mom was using a Schuco Model # S136 provided by her insurance co. Her milk handling stroage practices may be concerning but she showed us a diaphragm that looked to be moldy? Our Infectious Disease doc wanted her to only feed milk obtained with her new pump and kit. He also wanted breastmilk cultures from 2 separate pumpings from original questionable pump and a control using new sterile collection kit collected under my supervision to decrease risk of other contaminants. I had to do what was ordered but I keep wondering if this is really providing us with useful information.
Please let me know about the reference. Thanks
Melissa Yetter
