The one recommendation that I have found to work well is to tell the mother to be sure she is making eye contact with the child.  I often find that when mothers tell me they are having biting issues they are often distracted during feeding (using cell phone, reading, etc.).  I have had good responses from moms who have stopped doing those things and focusing on baby while feeding.  Best of luck to her.
