I think you can finesse it without being discouraging.  It is something
that may or may not happen.  But I think it is very important for moms to
have information, and to be empowered by that.

I would probably just follow up with her anyway, even if that is not what
you usually do, at least by phone.  I had a mom with a very similar birth,
and she struggled and struggled for a long time with milk production.  If
she had known that could have caused her milk production to lag, she could
have been more proactive earlier and taken appropriate steps sooner and
maybe things would have been different.  But she didn't know, and so her
iron was very low.  I am sure if I asked her now, do you wish someone would
have told you this was a possibility right away, her answer would be a
resounding yes.  So, I would provide her with information, education, what
to watch for, and where to get help if she has problems.  Good luck!
